I established this organization out of a deeply personal experience. When I took on the role of foster parent, I found myself in a situation where support was lacking. Children arrived at my home with limited information about their background and family. I felt isolated and powerless. My only instinct was to provide love to these children, and I knew this was my calling, but I lacked the knowledge and tools to offer the comprehensive support needed.
Driven by a profound love for these children, I embarked on a journey of learning. I educated myself on navigating the complexities of the child welfare and court systems. I became well-versed in advocating for essential services and gained a deep understanding of trauma-informed care. However, one crucial aspect eluded me - how to effectively engage with and support the families from which these children came.
My perspective began to shift when I found myself conversing with bio parents while waiting with them during their children's surgeries. These conversations were eye-opening. I heard about their own difficult childhoods and the circumstances that had brought them to the attention of the child welfare system. Most significantly, I came to realize that these parents were not the monsters I had initially perceived them to be; they were ordinary people facing extraordinary challenges. Speaking to these mothers revealed the unfairness of passing judgment on them and their actions without understanding the complexities of their lives.
Our vision is to be the guiding force in transforming the lives of children and families impacted by the foster care system. We envision a future where every child’s experience in foster care is free from re-traumatization, where foster parents are empowered advocates for a child’s best interests, and where bio families find a strong and supportive village that helps them overcome the challenges they face. Through our child-centered mentoring, training, and community-building, we aim to create a world where every child’s well-being is protected and nurtured.”
"Our mission is to empower and support foster parents and bio parents through child-centered mentoring, training, and a range of comprehensive services. We are dedicated to ensuring the well-being and best interests of every child in our care."
